Appropriate leads in electrocardiography.

چکیده

Before it is possible to assess the significance of any variation in the electrocardiographic tracing, it is necessary to know the appearances of the tracing in healthy subjects. Current practice is to record three standard limb leads, three augmented unipolar limb leads, and upwards of seven chest leads. In this way, minor variations from the normal are likely to be appreciated and more accurate diagnosis can be made in disease of the myocardium. The innocent nature of certain variations from the accepted normal tracing cannot be overemphasized, because an incorrect interpretation may lead to the premature termination of a career, unnecessary restriction of day-to-day activities, and unreasonable anxiety to the family of the unfortunate victim. It is, therefore, of the utmost importance to establish the significance of these minor abnormalities in the light of our increasing knowledge of the appearance of the normal tracing. This investigation is concerned with the appearance of certain aspects of the tracing in apparently healthy males, especially with regard to the influence of respiration on the Q wave and the configuration of the S-T segment and the T wave in lead III, the appearance of the T wave in the bipolar CR and the "unipolar" V chest leads, and the possible usefulness of a transthoracic lead.

Investigation of Normal Electrocardiographic Indices in 500 Healthy Adult Persons

In all medical centers electrocardiography is one of the first steps in the evaluation of patients suspected of heart disease. It is therefore clear that distinguishing normal from pathologic patterns in electrocardiography is of utmost importance. The aim of this descriptive and analytical study was to determine the normal electrocardiographic indices in all leads and to investigate the influe...

یافته‌های اختلال حرکت دیواره‌ای قلب در اکوکاردیوگرافی و ارزش لیدهای خلفی در تشخیص انفارکتوس میوکارد

Background: For the purpose of ascertaining myocardial infarction (MI) and ischemia, the sensitivity of the initial 12-lead ECG is inadequate. It is risky to diagnose posterior MI using only precordial reciprocal changes, since the other leads may be more optimally positioned for the identification of electrocardiographic changes. In this study, we evaluated the relationship between electrocard...

The practical value of electrocardiography.

Electrocardiography, a graphic method of investigation of the heart, had such a rapid development that periodic evaluations of its practical usefulness are necessary. Overemphasis by enthusiastic workers may stress the value of this method beyond its actual possibilities; this may cause deceptions or diagnostic errors, or simply prevent the use of other, more appropriate, methods of investigati...

Electrocardiographic parameters of Markhoz goat using base apex lead and six standard limb leads

Electrocardiographic study of 50 healthy Markhoz goats ranging from less than 1 to more than 3 years inage was carried out. The heart rate varied from 99 to 123 beats/min with a mean of 110 beats/min. There wasa significant difference between the heart rate of goats in 3 age groups (PT waves and QT interval in base apex lead, QRS wave in lead I, P-R and PQ interval in aVF lead were higherand du...
